The Raspberry Pi and other low-cost, board-based computers are becoming increasingly popular amongst developers and hobbyists, thanks to the Internet of Things revolution. However, users requiring access to internet data on the go would benefit from an add-on that provides the ability to browse the web effectively, send SMS, and transfer data using a mobile network connection — especially if it is readily available as per the Raspberry Pi HAT specification.
It can be powered by the Raspberry Pi, or a separate power supply can be used. In this mode, PPP is not required; a simple command initiates the session.Designer knitting kits

Did you have some hints to fix this bug and get LTE Speed?Hello guys! In this article I am going to present one of my newest projects, a fully functional GPS tracker which may stream its location over 3g and visualize gps data on Google maps in real time.Xfx rx 5600 xt raw ii pro
To begin with, and in order to understand the significance of this project let me explain what a GPS tracker is and why someone might use it for. Normally when we use a car GPS or a mobile GPS app it shows our location on a map and demonstrates the best path related to distance or other factors from our spot to a selected destination.
As opposed to a GPS tracker we may not use it to find the best route to our destination but it may be used to track objects or people who carry it. It is noteworthy that, in contrast with a gps we may not need to be physically near to it in order to receive data as it may stream those over the internet. As an example case, someone like me may not remember where he parked his car last night, with a tracker in his car he may receive its last known location.
Another cool use trackers may have is to let you record your walks. Similarly with how you record video with a camera you might just do the same with GPS co-ordinates. In my implementation, in order to enhance this feature I have made the routes to be stored as independent html files and open in your browser with a double click.
In the remainder of this article, the device and its uses may be observed at first glance. PI : 1x raspberry pi model B url1url2 One micro sd card 8gb or more. GPS : 1x adafruit hat for raspberry pi similarly with my implementation. You may also use the gps breakout without the hat were you should have some jumper wires in order to attach it. If you decide, you may use another USB gps. Networks : 1x 3G usb adapter: url1. In order to use your adapter you will require a SIM card and a mobile plan to send and receive internet data.
4G / 3G / 2G / GSM / GPRS / GNSS HAT for Raspberry Pi
One powerbank most preferably with a large capacity and a USB output of 1A. Case : A case capable to contain all the above equipment and to be able to withstand some real world shocks. To begin with, the first task to do is to solder the adafruit gps hat. In addition, you should move the jumper to the right to Dummy Load On in order to not let the external powerbank switch off when it is left alone.
Afterwards, you may create a stack with the gps hat and the witti pi 2. It does not matter which HAT is on top, however, witty pi comes by default with a stacked header and you may need to move the gps antenna sometimes so it is much more convenient for the witty pi to go first in the stack and the gps to go on top of it.
You may power the device on from the button on the witty pi.Samsung s10 plus always on display horizontal
This process is already explained in another one of my articles about the tampering device which you may view from here. What I did was:. GPSD is sometimes buggy and if you decided its time to reinstall it you should do that with the purge option:. When all of this is done, restart your pi, there is a fix led on top of the gps hat which may indicate a fix when it blinks with large time gaps. Your next task to do is to power it on, leave it outside with the gps antenna facing the sky and run either from there or from ssh:.
With those commands you may observe if you gps operated similarly with the pictures shown below. You may need to let it for some time in order to receive a gps FIX. If you can not open gpsmon or other gpsd clients as in my case, the gpsd may have changed the permissions of the gps device it is using. From what I have seen on the Internet posts the gpsd and the raspberry pi have some co-operation issues as this happens frequently.
In order to overcome it you may use the following fix:. The following script is a startup one, the bulky header is being used for letting the os know in which order to start the startup scripts. The while code lets the user to be able to open any gps clients. You should keep that in mind as we may return later to that. Description: This file initts all gps related stuff.
You can connect this 4G module with computer to surf the Internet, or attach it onto Raspberry Pi to enable functions like 4G high speed connection, wireless communication, making telephone call, sending SMS, global positioning, etc.

Place the Sim card into the IOT BIT simcard holder with the cut corner facing away from the board which you can buy from any major sim provider.
There are multiple ways to get this up and running. The first is to download the disk image and flash it using Win32 Disk Imager. You will need an SD card that is 8GB or bigger. The link for the download is below:. Once the battery is charge this Led will turn off. NET Blue -when it turns on shows that the IoT Bit is reading the sim card, when this led is blinking it means that the signal is lock to the provider of the Sim card.
If there is any internet data in the sim card the led will start blinking even more frequently which means it should be able to transfer data. This Led will have more functions with future versions. With the latest version of Raspbian Raspbian Stretch the kernel already contains the drivers needed to use the IoT Bit which means that with this new version you can skip to the next step. This also means that the Iot Bit is compatible with any linux system with a kernel version of 4.
If you do not see a Qualcomm device this means that you are probably using a version of Rasbian older that Raspbian stretch. In this case please follow this link for instructions on how to manually install the driver. One of the important features of the IOT BIT 4G is its ability to connect to the internet using the mobile network, but for that, it needs to be configured to do so.
There are two methods that can be used for this, the first one is to use wvdial which uses the terminal, the second method is to use network-manager-gnome which has an easier to use interface, if you wish to use this skip the wvdial setup to step Now we need to configure the wvdial.
You will need the USSD code used to fetch the sim cards registered number. Or you can just use the sim cards phone number if you can't find the USSD code but just remember you will have to edit the file to change the number if you change the sim. This last step takes around 30 seconds.
If successful, you should be connected to the internet with your Raspberry Pi. To enable the Pi to connect IoT Bit to the internet using the mobile network automatically, we use the following steps. If successful when the Raspberry Pi boots you should be able to connect to the internet using your IoT Bit. Network manager gnome will provide an easy to use GUI to enable you to connect to the internet.
In this step, we will show you how to get the IoT Bit connected to the internet using this method. First, minicom needs to be installed in order to test the GPS. This is done by using the following command:.Jump to navigation. The addition of cellular communication and GNSS location to the Pi further extends its reach, offering the ability to transfer data to and from the Raspberry Pi globally, together with the availability of accurate positioning and time information.
Scripts to automate communication setup are available. The 3G shield for Arduino and Raspberry Pi enables the connectivity to high speed WCDMA cellular networks in order to make possible the creation of the next level of worldwide interactivity projects inside the new ""Internet of Things"" era. The idea behind the Raspberry Pi to Arduino shields connection bridge is to allow to use any of the shields, boards and modules designed for Arduino in Raspberry Pi.
It includes also the possibility of connecting digital and analog sensors, using the same pinout of Arduino but with the power and capabilities of Raspberry. This tutorial allows the user to make a call to different numbers. Each button can be assigned to a number and originate a voice call.
Pushing other button, you can end the voice call. This project can be developed with Arduino or Intel Galileo. This tutorial allows the user to measure the temperature and the light level in a room. This data is sent each minute to a personal cloud server in Thingspeak, so you will be able to see both graphics in a web page.
This tutorial allows the user to send three different emails with color filtered photos. This is achieved by moving three color sheets attached to a servo.
This tutorial allows the user to record an audio file, take a photo and store them in a personal FTP logbook.
